Scholarship Description

The WAI Washington State Chapter offers a $1,500 scholarship for STEM education in memory of Yukiko Howell. Yukiko taught math, science, and Japanese language for many years at Annie Wright School, a private school in Tacoma, Washington, and was an active chapter volunteer. STEM careers include but are not limited to science, engineering, air traffic controller, avionics technician, dispatch certification, aircraft mechanic, meteorologist, and STEM educator.

Eligibility Requirements

1. Must be an active member of WAI.
2. Must be pursuing higher education toward a STEM career with plans to enter a career in aviation or aerospace. (STEM careers include: Science, technology, engineering, mathematics, business, air traffic controller, avionics technician, dispatch certification, aircraft mechanic, meteorologist, or educator for the subject matters).
