Dr. Sydell Perlmutter Gold Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship Description
This scholarship is made possible by a generous contribution from Dr. Ted Gold in memory of his wife Dr. Sydell Gold. Sydell was a pioneer for women in math and science, earning her Ph.D. in Theoretical Mathematics in 1973 when she was already the mother of three.
To honor her tremendous legacy and help other women follow in her footsteps, AFA’s Dr. Sydell Perlmutter Gold Scholarship will be awarded to daughters of Air Force members pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Education, or Mathematics (STEM) field. The award will total $20,000 payable in four annual installments of $5,000 each.
Eligibility Requirements
1. Must be a graduating female high school senior who has excelled in mathematics.
2. Must be accepted into an accredited four-year college or university.
3. Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field.
4. Must be a dependent of a currently serving, retired, or deceased Air Force member.
NOTE: Preference will be given to applicants who are first-generation college students and have demonstrated financial need based on most recent submitted FAFSA.
