Scholarship Description

The Wings for Val Foundation, www.WingsforVal.org, honors the life and legacy of Navy Lieutenant Valerie “Val” Delaney (May 14, 1986–March 11, 2013), through a mission to support women in aviation and to inspire the next generation of female leaders. This scholarship honors Val’s memory and is open to a female WAI
member from any country, 18 years of age or older. It will be awarded to an individual pursuing a private fixed wing pilot license or any subsequent flight ratings through commercial pilot. Applicants are asked to research Lieutenant Delaney and draw similarities to her life and character in an additional written essay.

1. Must be an active member of WAI.
2. Must be a female pursuing a private fixed-wing pilot license.
3. Must be 18 years of age or older.
