Scholarship Description

The Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA) Scholarship programs, to include its auxiliary continuing education grant, provide funds for worthy causes such as scholarships for its members’ dependent children aged 23 and younger. 

The AFSA International continuing education grant scholarships are valued from $1,000 to $5,000 to students attending an accredited academic institution. To date, the Foundation along with its managed scholarship programs, has provided over 2.5 million dollars in scholarships to Military dependent children.

Scholarship Levels

  • $5,000 – Major General Alfred K. Flowers Scholarship
  • $4,000 – Clyde V. Prince Memorial Scholarship
  • $2,500 – Academic Excellence Scholarship
  • $2,000 – Richard Howard Scholarship
  • $2,000 – Julene Howard Memorial Scholarship
  • $2,000 – Sgt. James R. Seal Memorial Scholarships
  • $2,000 – Academic Excellence Scholarships
  • $1,500 – Academic Excellence Scholarships (two awarded each year)
  • $1,000 – USAA Academic Excellence Scholarships to Air Force Applicants (three awarded each year)
  • $1,000 – USAA Academic Excellence Scholarships to Space Force Applicants (three awarded each year)

Eligibility Requirements

Philip H. Jones Naval Aviation Scholarships may be renewed annually to a maximum of four years or degree attainment, whichever comes first. Renewal will depend on the recipient’s academic achievement and the availability of funds. The value of the scholarship may change year-to-year; the amount of each annual scholarship and each renewal will be based on availability of funds.

Naval Aviators are Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard aviators who are rated Pilots or Naval Flight Officers.

Navy and Coast Guard Aircrewmen and Marine Corps Combat Aircrewmen are those persons formally designated as such and authorized to wear the respective Aircrew warfare badge.
